March

A mid-March morning

Ides and all, in the darkness

The cold wind knocks on doors and windows:

Let me in let me in.

I wait for your cousins, first light and warm breezes, I reply

Yet the assault continues and

The wind chimes at the door cry out, as if for help.

  1. Thank you, John. I’m waiting for the cousins, too, though my pups are counting on me now to take them out to the cold wind before we sleep.
